Tell them how many you are short.

Visa delays have left farms and harvest crews without the skilled operators they lined up months ago. We are collecting the real numbers and taking them to the Minister.

Leave any of this blank. The answers above are the ones that count.

We never publish your contact details.

Send it on. One farm is a complaint. Three hundred is evidence.

Cannot get the form to work? Email sam@peopleinpaddocks.com.au with your name, town and how many you are short. That counts the same.

What are we asking the government for?

Four things, on behalf of everyone who signs:

  1. Priority processing for seasonal and skilled agricultural applications through the harvest and calving window.
  2. Published, realistic processing timeframes, so a crew can be planned instead of guessed at.
  3. Advance notice before processing settings change. The lack of warning this year has done as much damage as the delay.
  4. Recognition that being short-staffed in agriculture is a safety issue, not just an economic one. Fatigue, inexperience on machinery and working alone are how people get hurt, and a visa queue is currently creating all three.
Where do these numbers go?

Totals by state, commodity and role go to the Minister for Agriculture, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, your federal member, and the industry bodies that represent you. Your name goes with them only if you tick the box. Your email never leaves us. Full detail is in our Data & Privacy Policy.

Who is running this?

We are. People in Paddocks is an HR and work health and safety practice working with family and corporate farms across Australia. We write the safe work procedures, sit in the incident reviews and take the calls when a crew is falling apart. This petition is independent and self-funded, and we are not a lobby group.
