From reporting farm risk to directors, to reinventing how farms stay safe.
As the National HR & WHS Manager for the corporate farming enterprise Proterra Investments, Sam's job was essentially to keep the directors out of jail if things went pear-shaped on the ground. When the operation sold, a buyer asked her to look after his people and safety. That became People in Paddocks, which she ran whilst also living on a family crop and sheep farm in Western Victoria. Through managing hundreds of ag workers across corporate and family farms, Sam made an important discovery that would shape her next journey.
At one point, Sam managed 19 dyslexic workers. 18 had never told their boss of their reading and spelling challenges. That discovery inspired the company to develop PIPA (the People in Paddocks App) - a safety and workforce management platform that could actually be used by the people doing the work. And clearly it has filled a need. PIPA is achieving a 98% adoption rate by workers.
Trusted on farms across Australia.
